Why I built Pathcast
A note from our founder.
My nephew asked me a question I still think about: where do I fit now?
He is a senior in computer science at one of the best schools in the country. A few years ago, a student like him would have had several offers by now. He has been applying and hearing very little back. I could see the worry on his face when he asked.
Not long after, my niece asked her own version. She is a sophomore in college, and she wanted to know if she is studying the right thing.
I have spent my whole career in technology. People in my family come to me with these questions. And I realized I had been asking myself the same thing, quietly, for a long time.
So I did what I know how to do. I took the question apart. I looked at a job the way it really is, a week full of tasks. I asked which ones software can truly do today, which ones still need a person, and what someone could start learning this week. Each time, the worry got smaller and the next step got clearer.
Then we kept going. One role at a time, we studied 120 of them, from nurses and electricians to students, analysts and managers. I held every plan to one test: would I be comfortable handing it to my own nephew and niece?
I built Pathcast so nobody has to sit with this question alone. It is free, and it takes a few minutes.
My hope is simple. Anyone, at any stage of life, should be able to see their work clearly and take the next step with confidence.
Work has always changed, and people have always found their way through it. You will too.

About Seth
Seth has built digital products for 20 years. At a major US bank, he leads digital product and innovation work across a portfolio of more than 35 product teams behind online and mobile banking. Before that, he was a product owner at Mastercard for consumer products like Bill Pay and ATM Locator, and he led digital work at Monsanto and Sigma-Aldrich.
He is a co-inventor on three US patents in semantic information processing, first filed in 2010. That work explored how software agents can understand context and share it with each other. Agent-to-agent communication has been his passion ever since. He believes AI agents will soon work together on people's behalf, and he wants that future to leave people more capable.
Seth holds an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, where he won first prize in the Olin MBA Entrepreneurship Program. He volunteers with groups focused on animal welfare, food outreach and young entrepreneurs.
Seth builds other AI products in his spare time too. They include Brightwend, which suggests one nearby outing a day for older parents, Boldcall, a group predictions app, and tools that help small local businesses.
