How We Handle Your Résumé
You are about to hand a document about your working life to a website you found five minutes ago. That deserves a straight answer to every question you have. Here they are.
This page is written by the two people who built Pathcast. It is not the legal version — that is the Privacy Policy. Everything here is also true there. This is just shorter.
What happens to my file?
- You upload it. A PDF, a photo of a printed résumé, or the PDF LinkedIn lets you export about yourself.
- We read it for tasks. An AI model pulls out the roughly fifteen things you actually do in a week. We show you that list.
- You correct it. Anything wrong, you fix. That corrected list is what your report is built from — not the file itself.
- We delete the file. Once your task list is confirmed and your report is generated, the original PDF or photo is deleted. We keep the task list and your report with your account, so you can come back, change your dials, and re-run the report without uploading again. If you want a report from a new résumé later, or buy the résumé-rewrite add-on, you upload again, and we delete that file too once the work is done.
The whole thing is encrypted in transit and while stored. That is standard, and you should expect it from any site.
Who sees it?
No person, by default.
The file goes to an AI model that extracts text and tasks. That model is run by a provider under a contract that does not let them keep or train on what we send. The only humans at Pathcast are the two of us who built it, and we do not open résumés. If your parse goes wrong and you write in for help, we will ask before looking.
Nobody else. Not partners. Not "trusted third parties". There are none.
Does it train an AI model?
No.
Not ours — we do not train models on user data. Not our providers' — we use them under terms that forbid it.
The 50 role analyses inside Pathcast were researched and written by hand before you showed up. Your résumé does not feed back into them. Your report is made for you, not from you and the next thousand people.
Can I delete it?
Yes, any time. There is less to delete than you might expect:
- The file is already gone. We delete the original résumé as soon as your report is generated, so there is nothing to delete separately. If you uploaded and stopped before the report was made, deleting your account removes it.
- Delete your whole account. Everything goes: task list, answers, dial settings, report, email, and any file still waiting to be processed. It is gone from our live systems within 7 days and out of backups within 30 days.
If you would rather a human do it, email [email protected] from your account address and we will.
The one thing we cannot delete is the payment record at Stripe, because tax law makes us keep it. It says you paid us. It does not include your résumé.
Do you tell my employer?
No. Never. Under no circumstances.
We do not contact employers. We do not have a product for employers. There is no "employer dashboard", no "workforce insights" tier, and there will not be one. If you answered what part of the job do you quietly dread? honestly, that answer stays between you and your report.
The only way your employer learns you used Pathcast is if you tell them.
Do recruiters get it?
No.
We do not share résumés, task lists, or anything else with recruiters, staffing agencies, job boards, or hiring platforms. We do not sell "candidate data". We do not have a recruiter product. Your résumé is not going into anyone's database.
If you ever get a recruiter message that mentions Pathcast, it did not come from us. Please tell us.
Do you connect to LinkedIn?
No, and we never will.
We never ask for your LinkedIn URL or login. We do not scrape LinkedIn. We do not use their API. The only LinkedIn-related thing we accept is the PDF that LinkedIn lets you download about yourself — and we treat that exactly like a résumé you typed.
What about the answers to the five questions?
Same rules as the résumé. They shape your report and nothing else. They are stored with your account, they are not shared, they do not train anything, and they are deleted when you delete your account.
We ask about what you dread because it is the most useful question we have. It also means we are holding something personal. We know that.
Do you sell any of this?
No. Not the résumé, not the task list, not the answers, not "anonymized trends", not "aggregate insights". We make money from the $29 report, the $7 monthly plan, and the $19 add-ons. That is the whole business. We do not take referral fees from training providers or bootcamps either, which is why our recommendations can be honest.
What do you actually keep, then?
If you are on the free tier and never come back: your email, your task list, your answers, your dial settings, and your report, until you delete them or until 12 months pass without you signing in.
Plus ordinary product analytics — which pages loaded, where people gave up — so we can fix the confusing parts. That analytics data does not contain your résumé, your tasks, or your answers.
